Sesquencential Series
In partnership with U.C. Press, CHS has finished the production of the fourth volume in the California History Sesquicentennial Series. Taming the Elephant: Politics, Government, and Law in Pioneer California, edited by John F. Burns and Richard J. Orsi represents a “double” issue of California History (Volume 81, Number 3/4), and will be mailed to CHS members in late May 2003.

The California History Sesquicentennial Series began as a commemoration of California’s 150th anniversary. Each of the four volumes contains essays written by leading writers on early California history.

Volumes 1-3 may be purchased at the CHS Museum Store by phone, 415.357.1860.
