CALIFORNIA HISTORY SESQUICENTENNIAL SERIES
Beginning in the 75th year of California History and in commemoration of the state's 150th anniversary, CHS, in association with the University of California Press, published a series of four volumes of California History essays by leading scholars reinterpreting important themes of the state's history, from the earliest days through the Gold Rush and up to 1870:
